Monday 9 April 2018

Photographed these Siskins again in my garden earlier in the morning. While later on at lunchtime, thought I‘ll take another look, no Siskins, but had a shock when a pair of Mallard appeared from my shrubs! They enjoyed my sunflower hearts as well. Never had Mallard as a garden tick before.

Spring where art thou ?

It's cold, grey and overcast. Even this Woodpigeon is fluffing up it's feathers, however, this Blue tit is using this nest box in my neighbours tree. My spring flowers are though, very nice Daffs bring nice weather...hopefully !

Thursday 5 April 2018

Today…couldn’t resist the lovely weather, so a trip out to Holland Haven and spent the afternoon wandering round after a morning of shopping. A fairly good view of a Kestrel surveying his patch before taking off.  Looks like a juvenile to me. A brief view of a Chiffchaff mixing with a few Long tailed Tits in some shrubs.

But the mild change in the afternoon temperature made such a change, felt like Spring. A few Bumblebee’s in flight, too far away and too quick to identify. But one thing that I did identify lying in the sun was an Adder. Apparently the area is known for Adders and a few have been seen yesterday and this morning. Fresh from hibernating, so it seems.

Wednesday 4 April 2018

4th April 2018  At home.

A bit of brightness at last, what ‘orrible weather we have had over the Easter period, stayed in most days. Muddy fields and water logged woods…changing the name to Kirby- Soken Wet.
Looked out of the kitchen window this morning. My regular Goldfinches look a bit different on the feeders….that’s because they were Siskins ! … a nice addition to my garden tick list.
